USTAD NISHAT KHAN

Ustad Nishat Khan is one of the greatest living sitar players, son of the famous Imrat Khan and nephew of the mythical Vilayat Khan, he appears regularly in the most renowned theatres worldwide and is an international concert musician of immense charm and fame.
He has attracted dazzling critical acclaim the world over and has recorded for Amiata Records, as well as for EMI, Polygram, Nimbus Records and JVC.

Upholder of an age-old family musical tradition (the Khans are among the most established families of musicians throughout Northern India), Nishat Khan is nevertheless an extremely inquisitive explorer of other worlds, explorations that have led him to play recently with western musicians of varied extractions, such as John McLaughlin and Evelyn Glennie, as well as on the sound tracks of numerous films, the latest of which is The Little Buddha by Bernardo Bertolucci.

Nishat Khan composed and played a sitar concerto for symphony orchestra to mark the Commonwealth Games 1994 in Canada.
He lives in Calcutta as well as London and performs regularly throughout Europe, the USA, Japan and India.
